THE GRIEVING PLANET PROJECT*
Holding space for ecosystem losses
The Grieving Planet Project is the response of artist Irene F. Sullivan to our worldwide Climate Crisis. Founded in 2019, this project is rooted in the artist’s understanding of Hospice Care, the power of grief awareness, recognizing the communal power of mourning and the interface of science and the humanities. The Grieving Planet Project offers an experiential space inviting people to recognize and honor ecosystem loses while bringing attentive focus and care to threatened vegetal, animal, air, land and water life systems. The artist’s paintings, artist’s books, video’s and installations interface with poetry, music, theater and scientific dialogues.
